Description

Manchester State Park preserves part of the former Middle Point military reservation, established in 1900 to support Fort Ward and protect the Bremerton shipyards. The site's mine-control system once guarded Rich Passage.

A brick torpedo storehouse, mining casemate, and unfinished Gun Battery Mitchell survive within today's public park. All three structures are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
